Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
Youth Volunteering, Community Action, and Leadership in Newport, Wales

At Newport Support Network CIC, we see every day how powerful community becomes when people step forward together.
Today was a perfect example of that spirit in action.
Teamwork in action across Newport
A huge thank you to Amelia, Brooklyn, and Noah — three volunteers who showed exactly what real teamwork looks like.

Working across two community sites, they supported one another, adapted to whatever was needed, and brought energy, kindness, and commitment to every task.
This wasn’t about job titles or roles.
It was about showing up — together.
Youth leadership in action
Brooklyn and Noah, both part of the Youth Volunteer Fund, continue to demonstrate what youth leadership can achieve when young people are given space, trust, and opportunity.

Their willingness to:
Help wherever needed
Learn new skills
Support others
Take responsibility
is shaping the future of community action in Newport.
Safe Steps in practice
Amelia, a Safe Steps – Volunteer Training for Opportunity volunteer, threw herself straight into the work.

Her confidence, compassion, and readiness to get involved made an immediate impact — not just on tasks, but on the people around her.
This is exactly what Safe Steps is about:
building confidence, skills, and purpose through meaningful community involvement.

Supported by partners who believe in community
We are deeply grateful to GAVO and Newport City Council for championing youth volunteering and supporting community-led action.
Their partnership helps create opportunities for young people to:
Build confidence
Develop real-world skills
Gain experience
Make a genuine difference
When young people are supported, communities grow stronger.
This is what community looks like
What happened today wasn’t just volunteering.
It was collaboration.
It was leadership.
It was trust.
It was Newport at its best.
This is teamwork.
This is community.
This is Newport.
